Master Electrician
Compensation
$30-$40 per hours
Description
Inspect and supervise work of lower level electricians and sub-contractors; ensures
adherence to electrical codes.
Repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, motor starters, relays, alarms,
electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.
Responsible for the installation of electrical circuits, lighting, distribution
panels, feeder cables, rough-ins, trim-outs, etc.
Perform safety inspections, and stay current on state and local electrical codes and
changes.
Responsible for electrical projects at new construction sites.
Diagnose/analyze/repair electrical systems shorts/burnouts; restore power, and ensure
safety.
Performs temporary electrical hook-ups.
Coordinate with assigned foreman and/or other trades for the primary purpose of
completing projects and work orders efficiently.
Perform layouts and interfaces with Construction and Facilities Development for
renovations and upgrades.
Participates in meetings, workshops, training and seminars, as assigned for the
purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
Prepares written materials (e.g. repairs status, activity logs, etc.) for
the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring
availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of
resolving immediate safety concerns.
Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of
ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
Perform other related duties for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective
functioning of the work unit.
Work Conditions
Master Electricians may work outdoors in all types of weather; lift and carry heavy objects; work under exposure to heavy traffic, high noise levels, etc.; may work varied shifts, nights, weekends and holidays; and may work with or be exposed to hazardous materials or chemicals.
Certification & Licenses:
Texas Master Electricians License Minimum 2 years' experience Successful completion of continued education toward Electrical Trade
Requirements
Minimum of 4 years experience in the electrical field that is directly related to duties and responsibilities specified.
Must be able to read and write, distinguish between colors, and work form elevated heights (ladders, scaffolding, etc.)
Advanced knowledge of electrical safety practices.
Must be able to read blueprints/schematics and work with electricity.
Thorough knowledge of electrical codes.
Ability to use electrical hand/power drills, saws, conduit benders, voltmeters, etc.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work in a team setting.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds.
Manual dexterity.
Physical stamina and endurance.
Specialized knowledge to analyze and solve complex problems.
Mental and visual effort required due to continuous, concentrated mental and visual effort to plan and perform complex work.
